[Men's Track & Field] Garrett Tenney breaks Hammer Record

Comments

The Jamestown College track and field teams found some luck in getting in a meet before their annual trek to the Sioux City Relays in Iowa next weekend.

Dickinson State welcomed in the Jimmies for a two-team meet on Friday. The weather was 55 degrees and the wind was calm, for the most part.

An extended winter has brought most spring sports to a screeching halt. But with hardly any snow in Dickinson, the Jimmies hit the track and shined in quite a few events.

Dickinson State won the men's side 337-137, but JC was far from a full squad. The last-minute meet didn't work out for everyone's schedules, and the Jimmies were forced to leave some of their best athletes at home.

Still, JC came away with three event winners, including hammer thrower Garrett Tenney, who broke the school mark with a toss of 49.31 meters. He also finished second in the discus.

"That was kind of the highlight for us," JC coach Ed Crawford said. "The throwers did a really good job."
