[Women's Track & Field] Iverson, Roemmich Qualify for NationalsPublished by
Ten Jimmie women notched victories on Friday at the Dickinson State Invite. Leading the way was new national qualifier Nikki Iverson. The former Blue Jay performer blew past the qualifying mark, soaring to 19-0.25 in the long jump. Iverson also won the triple jump. She was already qualified in a relay. "Nikki had a tremendous jump. All of her jumps were good, but that one was really outstanding," said JC women's coach Jim Clark. Kayla Roemmich was the other new qualifier. The senior from Bottineau's 140-9 mark in the discus earned a return trip to nationals. It was also a career-best. Additionally she also won the shot put at 40-7. "She's really hitting her stride, it seems," Clark said. It was very windy in Dickinson, making a number of the running events more of a workout opposed to getting times.
