University of Jamestown women's track & field coach, Jim Clark, announced that Keary Stanger, who will be a 2014 graduate of Ada-Borup High School in Ada, Minnesota, signed a North Star Athletic Association Letter of Intent and plans to participate in Track & Field for the Jimmies.

Keary is the daughter of Tina and Joe Stanger of Ada.

Keary is looking at Pyschology, Biology, or related fields at the University of Jamestown.

When your coach is running right alongside you, it's a little tougher to slack off.

That's the case for distance runners at Jamestown College.

Assistant coach Andy Gideon not only looks younger than his age (45), he runs like a person half that old.

Gideon, an assistant coach for the track and field and cross country teams — on top of his duties as the school's very effective sports information director — has run 18 full marathons and one 50-mile monster, which he was the Montana winner in the Open Division (18-39 age group) at the USATF 50 Mile Championship in 2007.

Just recently, he qualified for the Boston Marathon for the sixth time, covering the 26.2 Missoula (Mont.) Marathon course in 3 hours, 24 minutes and 21 seconds.

It takes great discipline to stay in the shape required to compete in marathons. Clearly, he has that. But there's more to it.
