[Women's Cross Country] Jimmie Alums Conlon and Holding Eagle Run Boston

SUCCESSFUL AT BOSTON MARATHON

Katie Conlon, running only her second marathon, ran 2:50:10 to finish 51st of all women entered in the 2014 Boston Marathon.   Katie was 963rd overall (of all entrants – men and women).    Katie was the 29th American woman to cross the finish line.  The winner of the race was Rita Jeptoo of Kenya in 2:18:57.  The top American finisher was Shalane Flanagan in 2:22:02. 

Katie ran the first half of the marathon in 1:26:52 and ran the second half 3 ½ minutes faster in 1:23:18.  Katie took 15 minutes off her previous best and only time when she won the Anchorage, Alaska in August.  Katie ran consistently between 20:00 to 20:32 for most of her 5000 meter splits, but dropped down to 18:52 for her last timed 5K split.  She finished very fast.  Her overall average was 6:29 per mile.

Katie graduated from Jamestown High School in 2007 and University of Jamestown in 2011.  She was an 8-time NAIA All-American in Track & Field while running for the Jimmies, including a NAIA Individual title in the 3000 meter steeplechase.  Katie was also a 3-time NAIA Cross Country All-American.  After graduation from Jamestown, Katie ran her last season of eligibility with the Oregon Ducks, helping lead her team to their first NCAA Cross Country championship in 25 years.  Katie earned NCAA Division 1 All-America honors in cross country and also qualified for the NCAA National Indoor Track & Field Meet in the 5000 meters in her one full season with the Ducks.   

Katie lives in Seattle, Washington and works for the Brooks Athletic Company on the U of Washington Campus.

Lisa (Nayes) Holding Eagle finished in 3:28:20 in her first Boston Marathon.   Lisa finished 1858th among women and 8772nd among all of the over 36,000 runners.  Lisa ran an average of 7:57 per mile.   Lisa was a runnerup in the NAIA National Outdoor meet in the marathon as a senior at University of Jamestown.  Lisa was a multiple-time NAIA national qualifier in cross country and track & field for the Jimmies

Lisa graduated from Custer County High School in Miles City, Montana in 2000.  She graduated from the University of Jamestown in 2004 with a Chemistry major.  Lisa was a NAIA Track & Field All-American in 2004 when she placed second in the Marathon in 2:56:16 at the NAIA National Outdoor Meet. 


Lisa lives in Dickinson, ND and is married to former Jimmie football lineman Travis Holding Eagle and they have a young son named James.  Lisa is using her Chemistry degree while working for Champion Technologies as a Technical Service Representative.
