[Men's Cross Country] Matt Young named NSAA Cross Country Runner of the Week

MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association announced its final edition of the Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week honors by the conference office Tuesday, based on the performances at the conference meet in Dickinson, N.D.  Amanda Wolff of Dickinson State (N.D.) was named as Women's Runner-of-the-Week.  Matthew Young of Jamestown (N.D.) was selected as Men's Runner-of-the-Week.

NSAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Amanda Wolff – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Sophomore – Glasgow, Mont. – Wolff led Dickinson State (S.D.) to a first place team finish at the North Star Athletic Association conference meet and an automatic bid to the national meet.  She was the individual champion in the 5K race with a field of 41 runners.  Wolff clocked a time of 19 minutes, 48 seconds in the race.

NSAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Matthew Young – Jamestown (N.D.) – Sophomore – Woodland, Wash. – Jamestown's (N.D.) Young won his second consecutive North Star Athletic Association conference meet in the field of 54 runners.  He posted a lifetime-best of 26 minutes, 4 seconds in the 8000-meters race.  His time was 36 seconds faster than his winning time last season.  Young received All-Conference honors and also qualified for the 2016 NAIA National Cross Country Championships later this month.

Looking Ahead
Dickinson State (N.D.) will be taking their women's and men's cross country teams to the NAIA Cross Country National Championships on Nov. 19 at North Farms in Elsah, Ill. near St. Louis.

Eight individual runners from the North Star will also run at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships on Nov. 19.  They are Jamestown's Amber Posner, Allison Foster, Christa Lysne and Matt Young (SO/Woodland, Wash.), Rachel Turi of Viterbo (Wis.), and Nic Ganzeveld, Marquis Cox and Nathan Meiners of Waldorf (Iowa).
