[Men's Track & Field] Garrett Tenney Breaks Hammer Record AgainPublished by
It was very windy in Dickinson, making a number of the running events more of a workout opposed to getting times. The Jimmie men had two first-place finishes, and another school record. Jesse Hacker led a 1-2 JC finish in the shot put. Mike Findlay was second. Garrett Tenney broke his own school record in the hammer, again. His mark of 163-8 was good for second. "The throwers did a nice job," JC men's coach Ed Crawford said. "They've been pretty consistent, really, all season for us." Bradley Brooks was second in the discus (154-2), which beat the qualifying mark, although Brooks had already earned his trip to nationals. In the pole vault, Joseph Ikier beat a 4-person field in the 3-team meet. South Dakota Mines joined JC and DSU. The wind made running miserable, but the hurdling crew still performed effectively. John Tyler Petsch's 58.82 led a 2-3-4-5 finish in the 400 with the Roemmich brothers rounding it out with Scott (59.50), Trent (1:03.72) and Derek (1:03.93) crossing in succession. "It was a horrible day to run, but our guys did the best they can," Crawford said. "That's all you can ask, really."
